SolidWorks Advance Thread Wizard
An add-in for SolidWorks that models threads from the standards, including tapered pipe threads, using the thread data of this site. It is not released yet; the video shows a trial version.
What it does
- True 3D tapered threads
Cuts real helical threads on tapered surfaces such as NPT pipe fittings, not a cosmetic line.
- Specifications inside SolidWorks
Loads the ASME reference specification for the chosen thread in the PropertyManager, so you do not leave the model to look up sizes.
- Native thread profiles
Works with SolidWorks thread profile files (.SLDLFP), the same format as the Thread Library on this site.
- Wrench-tight sealing check
Simulates the metal-to-metal interference of a tapered joint tightened with a wrench.
Series it will cover
The trial has data for the Unified (UN) and NPT threads. The other series are in progress or planned: they are the ones this site has pages for. The final list is announced at release.
